The Team and Research behind Simple Steps Autism
P.E.A.T
Parents’ Education as Autism Therapists (PEAT) is a parent-led charity based in Northern Ireland. They promote the use of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and employ Behaviour Analysts to provide training and support to parents and carers of children living with autism spectrum disorder in Northern Ireland.
Some of the supporting PEAT team members: Nichola, Mary & Lynsay.
Arts Council of Northern Ireland
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has been a major funder of Simple Steps. Through their Creative Industries Innovation Fund they have been involved from the very beginning and helped us get off the ground.
Research Partners
We work with three different categories of experts: from internationally-renowned academics,ABA experts, and parents.
Prof.Mickey Keenan, BCBA-D (University of Ulster),
Prof.Karola Dillenburger, BCBA-D (Queen’s University, Belfast),
and Dr Stephen Gallagher, BCBA-D (University of Ulster)
have been involved since Simple Steps Autism began, and will have an important consultancy role as we progress.
We also work with Behaviour Analysts from parent-run charity, PEAT (Parents’ Education as Autism Therapists).
Our final (and most important) group of experts are parents. They have influenced Simple Steps Autism at all stages and every parent can contribute as we move forward.
